Honest help choosing full-arch implants in Tijuana or Los Algodones

If you're a US adult facing a $30,000–$60,000 quote for full-arch dental implants and you've been researching Mexico, you're not alone — and you're not crazy. You're also not getting a straight answer anywhere.

Most sites covering this topic are either clinic-owned, affiliate-driven, or both. DueSouthDental is the alternative we wished existed when we started reading them. We focus on two cities — Tijuana and Los Algodones — and one procedure cluster: full-arch implants (All-on-4, All-on-6, multi-implant cases). That's it. We're trying to be the resource you'd want a friend to send you, not the one Google rewards for length.

What this site is — and what it isn't

DueSouthDental is an independent decision hub. We are not a clinic. We are not a travel agent. We don't take payment from you; if you ultimately book treatment with one of our partner clinics, that clinic pays us a small fee for the qualified consult we sent over. That's the only money we make.

We don't accept paid placement. Clinics get on our short panel by meeting written vetting criteria — not by paying. If we ever change that, we'll say so on this page.

We are not licensed dental professionals and nothing on this site is medical advice. We can help you compare cost, logistics, and clinic reputations; the actual treatment plan is between you and a dentist.

The decision you're actually making

It's not really "which clinic." It's: stay home and accept the US price, or go to Mexico and accept different risks for ~60–70% off. Almost every patient gets this comparison wrong because the US-side number quietly leaves out alternative options (financing, dental schools, payment plans) and the Mexico-side number quietly leaves out travel, lodging, complication contingency, and a likely follow-up trip.

The cost calculator on this site is built to give you the honest all-in number for both sides — not a flattering comparison.

Tijuana vs Los Algodones — short version

Two cities, two very different logistics profiles. The right one depends mostly on where you live or where you can fly cheaply.

Tijuana

  • Drive from San Diego — ~25 minutes from the San Ysidro pedestrian crossing.
  • Best for patients flying into San Diego (SAN).
  • Drive markets: California and Las Vegas.
  • Clinics range from boutique to high-volume.

Los Algodones

  • ~10 minutes from the border crossing on foot.
  • Best for patients flying into Yuma (YUM) or Phoenix (PHX).
  • Drive markets: Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
  • Famously dense — hundreds of clinics in a few square blocks.

If neither city is obvious for you, the calculator will pick one based on your home city and timeline.

The 4 questions that decide whether your case is a good fit

  1. Are you generally healthy? Uncontrolled diabetes, recent radiation, certain medications, and active periodontal disease all change the conversation. A reputable clinic will refuse to operate before clearing these.
  2. Have you had a recent CT scan / panoramic X-ray? If not, expect that to be the first appointment.
  3. Is your case full-arch (≥ 4 implants per arch) or single-implant? This site is built for full-arch. If you need a single tooth, a local US dentist or dental school is almost always the better answer — Mexico's cost advantage doesn't justify the trip for a $1,500 procedure.
  4. Can you commit to follow-up? The most common bad outcome isn't a botched surgery — it's a patient who never goes back for follow-up because of cost or scheduling. Plan and budget for at least one second trip.

Our vetting criteria

Every clinic we partner with meets all of:

We're publishing our short panel after pilot — not before. If a clinic is on our panel, that's why.

We're in pilot — calculator launches end of May.
